Kunsthåndværkermarked 2010

Today I went to The Crafts Fair at Copenhagen’s Frue Plads.

As I will be moving into a real appartment this fall, I was interested in looking for a few items, for example a teapot, tea cups, bowls, vases and so on.

These are a few of my favourites from today. Photos borrowed from the artists’ websites.

Hapilu by Pia Lund Hansen, ceramicspia lund 1  pia lund 2

I love her bowls and cups, and one day I’ll get one of the beautiful vases in white or black, or maybe a unika bowl.
I will probably buy a couple of cups and small bowls tomorrow.

keis&fiedler by Helene Keis and Jakob Fiedler, ceramics and jewelry

I will get a set of three bowls. My favourites are the matte white ones with glossy insides in black, green or yellow.
Helene Keis is also making mussel painted earrings and brooches, which are beautiful and interesting.
I love the tall, lean vases as well, I would like one in yellow or black.

The most BEAUTIFUL crystallized ceramic vases. I will never be able to choose one of these!!

I also like their Raw series, especially the light containers.

clibklap by Claire Maria Lehmann and Iben Harboe, ceramics
clibklap teaset
Lovely teapot, and their sugar container is so cute. They also had some pretty teacups.

Hygild by Leif Hygild and Helle Grangaard, ceramics
marked0601
Japanese inspired tableware.

Lars Glad, jewelry
Pretty necklaces, my favorites where the ones with red string and either a cube or a heart. Unfortunately there are no photos of those on his website.

If you are in Copenhagen and would like to visit the fair, it is open tomorrow (Saturday 14th August) from 10-16.

I was fortunate that my mom wanted to give me a few items as a belated birthday present, so I’m going back tomorrow, if I’m able to choose from all of it.

Yarn overload(?)

As I just got my first paycheck in months, I had decided that I was going to spend a share of it on yarn. I have almost not bought any yarn, clothes or anything else fun since summer, because the world economic situation has been hard on the conversion rate from Norwegian to Danish currency, meaning that my living expenses has gone up quite a lot, and I’ve not had any money to spare. Also, I have been on a break from school since February, therefore not receiving any education support from the government.

I have been working full time since April, though, and that’s why I finally get to spend some money on yarn. And I DID spend quite a few hours last weekend organising my stash ;)

First, Lynghøjgaard is closing, and have 25% off or more in May.

I got Kauni Effekt (first time I’m trying it!) in three colourways, solid coloured Kauni 8/2 (100) in three different colours, 2 skeins of Noro Silk Garden Lite (first Noro), one for the Queen Anne scarf and one for the Quant entrelac headband, and one skein of Filcolana Merci, mentioned in my last post, to use for a baby vest.

Figos mor was recommended by a friend from the knitting café, and there was 50% off on some Rowan and HP/Løve yarns.

I got a ton of Rowan Summer Tweed in a few different colours, there ere mostly leftovers, but I got 8 skeins of Ghost (grayish white, LOVE it) that I might use for a Liesl by Ysolda. 3 skeins Raffia (light brown) and one of Oat (beige, the same colour, but not dye lot, as my Daylight yarn) - these go well together (stripes?), 2 skeins Denim (blue, this is really pretty) and Dew (light green, the colour is weird but cool), and enough Løve Heavy (bulky cotton/acrylic) for a cardigan or 2-3 baby sweaters.

And of course, just when I’ve ordered all this, I get a newsletter from Garnstudio/Drops, saying that they have 40% off on selected yarns all May… I will probably get some Vivaldi, at least, because I want to knit a new bolero, to replace the one that felted.

Ooh shiny!

I have wished for a row counter bracelet by Crimson Orchid for around 1.5 years, I think. I have almost bought it for myself a couple of times.

DIGITAL CAMERA Monday was my 24th birthday, and I finally got one! My boyfriend wanted me to pick out one I liked, so it wasn’t a total surprise, but I really like it.

One thing I’m not too sure of is the closing mechanism, which I can’t really figure out. I think I will be attaching a clasp to it, to make it work better.

DIGITAL CAMERA It will be interesting to see if I’ll actually use it for what it’s meant for, but it’s pretty anyway, so I will definitely wear it. Now I want matching stitch markers…

These pictures aren’t great, but there are better ones here!

Yarn shopping, again

I stopped by Wilfert's on my way to work on Thursday. I don't usually shop there, but as I had gotten a newsletter saying they were having a sale, I decided to have a look.

I ended up with 6 skeins of Rowan Summer Tweed, in the colour oat. I am going to use it for Daylight, by Martin Storey, as I think it looks beautiful in white. I have had that pattern in my queue for a while, and bought the book, 'Rowan Kasbah Collection' this spring.
I had originally planned to use Madil Loden for it, as I couldn't afford the Summer Tweed, but now I got 6 skeins for 200 Danish Kroner (around 40USD) - I am so happy, because the feel of the yarn is really different from the Loden. It's lighter, and much better for summer.

Then, yesterday, I decided to go back to have a look at the 'take 10 skeins for 100 or 20 skeins for 150'-basket. I ended up with 20... (big surprise!) 14 of them are a linen yarn from Løve Garn - Lima, in five different colours - that I would like to one day make a blanket from.

The remaining 6 skeins were 4 of Rowan Classic Natural Silk Aran, in a beautiful shade of light green (not entirely sure what it's for, but probably some kind of summery top), one skein Louisa Harding Kashmir aran (for the Bainbridge scarf, another neckwarmer or a pair of wristwarmers) and one skein of the really soft GGH Soft Kid.

What a bargain! I have only one skein of Rowan yarn previously, the Ribbon Twist that I have no idea what to use for. I'm really looking forward to knit with one of the silk yarns. Yum!

In other news, I have finished my vest from 'Feminin Strik', by Lene Holme Samsøe.
I knitted it all in one piece, with 'fake seams' on each side. It's a tad on the smallish side, but I haven't blocked it yet. It's also missing buttons, and for now, it stays closed with a ribbon.

I was really happy to make it in one piece!! And I knit much tighter this time around (I tried making this vest once before, it turned out far too large, and I hated doing it in three parts).

The summery socks are coming along, I'm about halfway on the leg of the first one. It has been really quiet at work this week, so I have knitted a tiny bit in between, when my fingers aren't all covered in paint. It took some courage pulling out the knitting the first time, but I think I'm okay with it now.
Today I got the day of - it's raining, a lot.

I love finishing things! And knitting in public! And yarn! Yay :)

Oh - and the summer vacation pictures are coming (it's just that my hard disk is almost full...)

Ravelry stuff

I got my order from Ravelry today, a Hanes Women's Daily Dose Tee - Animals
and a button pack. I had hoped to get it today, as I'll probably go to the Stitch'n'Bitch Oslo meeting tomorrow, and I wanted to wear it then, especially the 'My name is' button, of course.

I have been on holiday at our summer cottage in Kragerø (South-Eastern Norway), I will post pictures from my new camera (got it from my Dad as a Bachelor Degree-present!) when I'm back in Copenhagen. Until the end of the week I'm staying at my Dad's house.

I haven't knit much, as it has been too hot. But when I got tired of reading tabloid newspaper, I simply HAD to knit something. I had brought arwetta sock yarn to make toe-up socks from Knitty summer 06, but the needles are in use for the tabi socks, that I also brought, but realised that it's been too long since I knit them I don't remember exactly where I was, and my notes unfortunately weren't good enough...
So I got myself a new set of 2.5 mm dpns, and started knitting the socks about a week ago. I had to redo the short row toe several times, but finally got the hang of it. I haven't gotten very far yet, but my Grandma, who was also staying in Kragerø, thought they look promising, and wanted me to knit a pair for her :)
